Finally found the time to have a fun in the darkroom! Grabbed a handful of negatives and spent the afternoon printing. Hope you enjoy them.
I recently spent a little time wandering around my home town of Belper in Derbyshire taking a few photographs of places i remembered from my childhood.
The Camera Shop was a place i remember well. Its been close for years and left to rot, the introduction of digital kind of killed it, it just couldn’t keep up!
The Thorntons factory was the first one of many. My mum worked there when she was younger and always told me it was haunted.
The photograph of the tree is from the memorial gardens on Belper high street
The landscape was taken at Black Rocks in Cromford, another place I used to go a lot as a kid. Some of my first medium format photographs where taken here too.
I love living in Derbyshire, I’m never short of things to photograph. Admittedly, it doesn’t have the hustle and bustle of a city. Street photography is practically impossible!
Living here has given me a much more relaxed and considered approach to photography. Taking a photograph is therapy for me.
All shots are developed by hand in my home darkroom.
If god existed he would be this man. With his other worldly glow, busying himself in his greenhouse in the sky. This is my Grandfather, the man who introduced me to photography and gave me my first camera. I owe it all to you granddad!
